The Belonging Project was a participatory public art initiative developed during the Covid-19 pandemic, exploring themes of isolation, connection and shared human experience.
Working in collaboration with PassionArt and Lesley Sutton, the project invited anonymous responses from participants reflecting on feelings of belonging, separation and emotional wellbeing during a period of national lockdown.
These responses formed the basis of a digital platform designed to collect, present and validate personal experiences. The website allowed users to contribute anonymously, creating a space where individual voices could be seen and reflected back as part of a wider collective narrative.
Alongside the digital platform, a visual identity and logo system was developed to unify the project across online and physical environments, ensuring consistency across communications, submissions and public installations.
A selection of submitted responses was later translated into a public installation, displayed as flags outside St Anne’s Church in Manchester. This physical extension of the project brought private reflections into public space, transforming personal testimony into shared visual expression.
The project demonstrated how digital systems, identity design and public art can work together to create moments of validation, reflection and collective understanding.

Testimonial
Micah is an exceptionally creative and hard working graphic artist. I have worked with him on numerous projects over the past ten years and he always stretches my thinking and helps to expand ideas so that the final graphic art works always exceed expectations. Micah is a poet and wordsmith who translates ideas into visual art and graphic media. He never disappoints.
